The third season of Discovery is just a week away, and ahead of the start of the new far future adventures of the USS Discovery CBS have of course been releasing lots of promotional materials. Continue below for the latest trailer, a new clip, loads of cast photos and other art, details of the new Discovery logs social media, and more!
First up, there's a new season trailer (shared to the web by NaciĆ³n Trek). Note the view outside the viewscreen at the start; new ships?
In a recent interview with TrekMovie, director Jonathan Frakes outlined the shape of the first few episodes:
So the first episode is Michael Burnham alone in Iceland [for location shoot], which is a foreign land. And she meets “Book” [David Ajala]. The second episode is the entire crew on Discovery. And the third episode, which is the one I was fortunate enough to get, is their reunion. And it is very heavy on the emo.
Teasing what is to come already, CBS have now launched a Star Trek: Discovery Logs Instagram, which promises "weekly personal log updates from the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery as they navigate this strange new future".
The first of those is already up, with Michael Burnham reflecting on her new world. As you can see, the log consists of a short audio narration by the actor, and a text version of that as video:
Here's the slightly odd double-Burnham artwork for the first log:
Finally, here are some of the latest other promo images for the new season:
As with previous seasons, the series will be found on CBS All Access(ad) in the US, and Bell Media services in Canada, and Netflix in almost all of the rest of the world (barring a few countries where Netflix doesn't work). All starting next week
