Mego TNG action figure preview images

Due out this month are the first TNG action figures in the revival range from Mego. This initial offering includes Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Commander Data, both sporting Mego-fied TNG TV era uniforms. Mego have released a bunch of new photos of both, so you can check them out, below:

A lot of Mego figures come with accessories of some sort, and earlier previews did show both Picard and Data with TNG phasers, and a holster belt. Perhaps they were just left off the photos here; although the designs have changed a little from those earlier prototypes, which also had a physical stuck-on combadge rather than the printed version they've opted for now. I guess we'll have to wait for packaging images, or them just to arrive, to find out if they do come with anything else.

Last time on Star Trek: The Next Generation...
These aren't strictly speaking the first Mego TNG figures; Diamond Select Toys also started to explore this series as an extension of their own Mego reproduction range a decade or so ago. They only released two characters: Their own version of Captain Picard, and a rather splendid Mego-Borg. They also seemed to have plans (per the packaging illustrations) for Data and a TNG Klingon, but they never materialised.

The Current Mego line has more TNG in the works too: At the New York Toy Fair this year they previewed a Q figure, and at Star Trek Las Vegas last year they had a prototype Locutus figure from their larger 14-inch range.

While you wait for those, the Captain Picard and Data figures  are available for pre-order from Entertainment Earth.

Hmmm. I don't think these are as successful as the TOS, or even TWOK.
