Out this week is issue 10 of IDW's Star Trek: Year Five comic series, the second half of the two-parter The Wine-Dark Deep. The story comes from writer Jim McCann, with art by Silvia Califano.
The book is offered in two different covers. The main one is as ever by Stephen Thompson (colors by Charlie Kirchoff), reflecting the underwater war, and Sulu's relationship with Ayal, that is the focus of this issue. Or if you prefer, J.J. Lendl's retail incentive retro cover series continues with a travel guide cover for I'Qos.
Continue below to check out those, a five page preview of the book, plus some artwork from previous issues in the series:
You can continue reading the rest of the book by picking up a copy at your local comic book shop, or from online retailers like these: Amazon, Things From Another World, Forbidden Planet, Barnes and Noble, iTunes. Or if you can wait a while longer, this will coming in the second Year Five omnibus, which takes it's title from this story, in July - The first omnibus for the series was just released this month; if you've yet to catch up on this very enjoyable series.
Speaking of looking back, the artists of some of the recent issues in the series have been showing off their work online. Such as this spectacular underwater splash (teehee) page, from the first part of this current story, shown here without the text, thanks to colourist Sebastian Cheng, who also shared the pre-coloured artwork of Silvia Califano
Califano also shared a few pages of her artwork pre-colours too:
Out just last week was the Valentine's Special from the series; the colourist for that issue, Charlie Kirchoff, shared these pages of art without text, from that issue. That book was drawn by Christopher Jones:
