Star Trek postage stamps have over the years have explored most corners of the Star Trek universe now (still waiting on some Discovery and TAS releases), but just occasionally they get really out there, and the latest release is certainly one of those times!
Released by the Marshall Islands in July, the latest Star Trek stamps series features artwork from Jenny Parks' Star Trek: The Next Generation Cats book. Twelve designs are available, released as two collectable miniature sheets, which together give us all the main TNG characters and a few secondary ones too - This is just the latest in an increasingly diverse range of spin-offs from the Star Trek Cats series, which other recent releases including T-shirts and mobile accessories.
This is not the first time stamp producers have borrowed from quirky Star Trek books, back in 2016 there were some stamps based on A Very Klingon Khristmas (which perplexingly were released in February!).
These stamps are produced by the Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation, who design and distribute special stamps for many countries. Another recent TNG release from them, for the Caribbean island of Niven, is a little less unusual: Two miniature sheets feature various scenes from TNG episodes featuring Picard. IGPC have released several stamp series like this before, focused on different characters (Kirk, Spock, and Uhura so far) and I can't say I tend to find them the most exciting Star Trek stamps on offer - But I think they've got some crackers this time, with individual stamps including Captain Picard Day, Guinan and her threatening fingers, and mariachi Q!
There have been quite a lot of Star Trek postage stamps over the years, to check out all the previous designs, see my Trek Collective List.
