IDW's December Star Trek comics, 2019 hints, and Transformers crossover preview

IDW  have announced their solicitations for December, which include two new Star Trek comics (both the final issues of their respective series). Continue below for full details of those, hints at a new series for 2019, previews from the Transformers crossover, news of the latest omnibus releases, and more!

So first up, coming in December:

Star Trek vs. Transformers #4
Written by John Barber and Mike Johnson, with art by Philip Murphy.
With the Enterprise disabled by the Klingon-Decepticon alliance, things look dire for Spock, Optimus Prime, and the landing team. But with the Autobots’ help, can Captain Kirk come up with a solution to save the day from a massive Cybertronian threat?
This book will be offered in three covers. The A cover by Philip Murphy has yet be released, but we can check out the rest. The B cover is by Priscilla Tramontano, featuring Optimus Prime filling the viewscreen on the Enterprise. There will also be a retail incentive cover by George Caltsoudas, featuring M'Ress (who is getting a good showing on covers for this series), and, I think, Bumblebee.

That final issue might be a few months away, but the first one is just about to arrive, and iTunes have posted a couple of early preview pages:

And if that doesn't give you enough of a taste, series artist Phil Murphy has been quite regularly tweeting teases of his work in progress, here are the latest few he's shared:

Back to December...

Terra Incognita #6
Written by Scott Tipton and David Tipton, with art by Angel Hernandez
The latest installment of THE NEXT GENERATION Mirror Universe saga comes to a twisted conclusion as Mirror Barclay unleashes his fiendish plan on Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D!
Four covers are going to be available for this book, but only two have been revealed so far. The A cover features some Barclay on Barclay action, by Tony Shasteen. The B cover will be a photo-montage (not yet revealed). Then there are two retail incentive covers, one by Elizabeth Beals (also not yet revealed), and a creepy sneaky Barclay by J.K. Woodward.

Other IDW artists have also been sharing some work recently, giving us further hints of things to come. The next Waypoint comic is due in November, and one of it's stories will be focusing on Data and Spot. Artist Sonny Liew shared this cute peak on Instagram:

Meanwhile J.K. Woodward is teasing further into the future, with this close up of a TNG movie-era cover he's working on for a new series coming, some time:
Using my teeny weeny brush to paint teeny weeny characters in a teeny weeny amount of time to create a colossal double cover for a huge new project that’s going to give you a whopper of a Trek-gasm when @idwpublishing announces it!!!

The day before he also posted this work-in-progress featuring Quark. Could they be part of the same TNG/DS9 crossover thing?

Back to things that have been announced, also among IDW's latest solicitations was an advanced solicitation for the January release of the final omnibus of John Byrne's New Visions photo-comic series, Volume 8 in the run.
Presenting all-new tales set in the Star Trek: The Original Series universe, done in a unique photomontage style, using images from the classic TV series. It’s as close as fans will ever come to getting new episodes featuring the original cast. Features the stories “The Enemy of My Enemy,” “An Unexpected Yesterday,” and a reinterpretation and adaptation of the TV episode “The Cage.”
And finally, going back to the Transformers crossover, the omnibus for that series has also recently appeared on Amazon, promising a May release. They're currently using the Derek Charm artwork from issue one.
Four decades in the making, it's the crossover that fans have demanded! Kirk, Spock, and Autobots! Decepticons and Klingons! Optimus Prime and the Prime Directive!

When Kirk, Spock, and the entire crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise investigate problems at a remote mine, they're met with an explosive battle between powerful warriors who change into vehicles from the 20th century! As the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons rages, it's up to Kirk to decide--does he violate the Prime Directive and interfere in a war that's raged for millennia? And how will the Klingons complicate the issue? It's cartoony fun between two of the most popular science fiction franchises in the world!

Transformers Hall of Famer John Barber and the world's most prolific Star Trek comics writer, Mike Johnson, team up with artist Philip Murphy (Powerpuff Girls) to tell an adventure that could only appear in comics!
