One of my favourite ships from the Wolf 359 fleet, the New Orleans class, is coming to Star Trek Online. Continue below to check out two variations of that design, and a Klingon cousin, as well as some previews from the forthcoming Discovery content coming to the game.
The New Orleans class joins the game as a "recon destroyer", and is available either in it's original TNG era configuration, or a new 25th century take on the design. STO designer Thomas Marrone tweeted these images of the classic configuration of the ship:

Behind the scenes ship bits: Disco Klingons, K't'inga and Bajoran miniatures, DS9 art, and more
I've gathered some of the behind the scenes Star Trek starship design bits and pieces to hit the web recently, to enjoy a look at what goes in to bringing starships beloved and obscure to screen. Today's assemblage includes close looks at the K't'inga class and Bajoran transport filming miniatures, loads of DS9 concept art, and some Voyager and TNG bits too. But first, lets check out the very newest stuff, fresh from Discovery.
Discovery concept artist Samuel Michlap has shared several pieces of his work on his ArtStation profile. Those include pieces giving a good look at the Klingon obelisk from the very start of the series, both in its inactive mode, and deployed to light-up, with the latter showing a particularly elaborate design.

Terra Incognita #2 preview
Out this week is the second issue of Terra Incognita, IDW's latest TNG mirror universe comic series (although the mirror elements are fairly minor in this particular issue).
Scott and David Tipton continue in writing their ongoing mirror universe saga, with Carlos Nieto on art duties for this issue.
The book is available in four different covers, with Tony Shasteen summarising the Vulcan/Cardassian ambassadorial dispute of the book on the A cover. The B cover is a photo-montage featuring this issue's focus character, Deanna Troi. There are also two retail incentive covers; a moment with Geordi and Data by Elizabeth Beals, or J.K. Woodward's own take on the story specifics.

Discovery finds its Spock
CBS have announced the much anticipated casting of the new Spock for Star Trek: Discovery, and chosen for the role is Ethan Peck, who certainly looks rather Spock-ish to me!
Peck is the grandson of fellow actor Gregory Peck, and has been acting nearly all his life, amassing numerous TV and film credits, including recurring roles in the series I Ship It and 10 Things I Hate About You.

New Star Trek novel format and blurb updates
Simon and Schuster announced the details of the first 2019 Star Trek novels a week or so ago, and have now released updated blurbs for them too. Continue below for new details of these new books.
Before that though, there is a new detail on the format too, as listings for these books reveal they are all to be released as trade paperbacks (as well as ebooks) - That's the larger format paperback published by Gallery Books, which previously was used to release additional titles on top the the monthly released smaller mass market paperbacks from Pocket Books (both Pocket and Gallery are imprints of Simon and Schuster). All the previous Discovery novels have been released in this format, but it would appear this will now be the standard across the entire Star Trek novel range.
With only three novels so far announced for 2019, it remains unclear if a monthly release cycle will resume or not. Also not yet revealed is whether these books will get audio releases, although in the last couple of years it has become increasingly common for Star Trek novels to get simultaneous audio editions, so I'd be surprised if most if not all did get that treatment.

QMx Worf sculpture and Klingon badge available now
In a Klingon double whammy, QMx have released their new Worf sculpture and Klingon emblem badge this month. Continue below for lots of new images and details of both.
The Worf model is the second character release in their Star Trek Mini Master's range, following the previous Locutus figurine. Like that release this was also to be offered as one of the items in Loot Crate's Mission Crate, although said crate is so far behind schedule that QMx's individual release now has ended up coming ahead of it's originally planned debut in the crate!
The plastic sculpture is at 1:12 scale, making Worf about six inches tall, and it posed dramatically with bat'leth raised high, ready to make a killing blow on one of his opponents.

No Chrises (no Kirks) for Star Trek 4?
The forthcoming fourth Kelvin timeline Star Trek movie, which was supposed to see Captain James T. Kirk meet his late father George Kirk, appears to have lost both of said Kirks, as Chrises Pine and Hemsworth have reportedly both walked away from the roles due to negotationations on the pay for the increasingly high profile actors falling apart.
According to The Hollywood Reporter this apparently comes down to Paramount trying to keep costs low due to Star Trek Beyond not doing as well as hoped, this has led to them trying to get Chris Pine to take a pay cut despite him already being signed up to do Star Trek 4 as part of the deal that got him back for Beyond. Exactly when Chris Hemsworth signed up and to what is less clear, but the same effect seems to have occured.

CBS wants to give us constant Trek
And who are we to stop them!
Talking to Deadline CBS's David Stapf (TV Studios), Marc DeBevoise (All Access), and Julie McNamara (Original Content), who are all titled presidents of one sort or another, had a lot to say about their plans to bring us a lot more Star Trek.
Perhaps the most exciting comment came from Stapf, who seemed to suggest an eternal supply of Trek to keep All Access alive:

Perhaps the most exciting comment came from Stapf, who seemed to suggest an eternal supply of Trek to keep All Access alive:
My goal is that there should be a Star Trek something on all the time on All Access. We know it draws an audience, and Discovery has done quite well. They discussed how they plan to work on both limited and ongoing series of Trek, which could include direct spin-offs from Discovery, as described by McNamara:
We’ve really talked about virtually all of the characters who popped in Discovery as potential spin-off shows. It’s obviously very much driven by our conversations with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout and the other creators involved.
Eaglemoss announce a load of new ships for the Starships Collection
Eaglemoss have had a busy weekend at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention, announcing a lot of new ships in both the The Official Starships Collection and the Discovery spinoff. Continue below for a look at all the new ships to come:
First up we have two more ships confirmed for the Discovery collection, images of which were also posted on the Hero Collector blog. Issue seven will be the Cardenas class, and in a change to the initially announced ship for this class we are going to be getting the USS Buran - This is a particularly interesting choice as while that ship was frequently mentioned in Discovery, it was never seen on screen. The ISS Buran was featured briefly but prominently, and the USS Yeager which was the ship originally planned to be released appeared in the battle at the start of the series.

Captain Picard returns to TV
Over the weekend at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention it has been announced that Patrick Stewart is return to play Captain Jean-Luc Picard in a new Star Trek TV project. There's exciting news on who's involved behind the camera too, continue below for more details on that.
The series is very early on in development at the moment, and little is known about the details of the show: Will it be an ongoing thing or a one-off miniseries, when it's going to air, or if any other 24th century characters might also return. We do know it's going to be set about twenty years after Nemesis (so getting close to the 25th century), and in the US at least it will be released on CBS All Access. Here's how Stewart summarised it at STLV:

He may not, and I stress may not, be a captain anymore. He may not be the Jean-Luc that you recognize and know so well. It may be a very different individual. Someone who has been changed by his experiences. Twenty years will have past, which is more or less exactly the time between the very last movie, Nemesis, and today.
We have no scripts as yet, we're just talking talking talking storylines. It will be, I promise you, I guarantee it, something very, very different. It will come to you with the same passion, and determination and love of the material and love of our followers and our fans, exactly as we had it before.

Eaglemoss confirm Spacedock, plus Ripper reveal, USS Glenn variant, XL Reliant previews, and more!
Lots of Eaglemoss updates today, including first looks, new previews, and news of new things to come to their various Starships Collections.
Top of that list is the long anticipated confirmation that Earth Spacedock will be the 15th special issue in The Official Starships Collection. This is just the third space station to make it into the collection, following Deep Space 9 and Deep Space Station K-7, and I think this iconic design from the TOS movies is long overdue; can't wait for it to arrive!

Discovery: Succession #4 preview
Out this week is the fourth and final issue of Succussion, IDW's mirror universe Discovery series. If you're a fan of Airiam you should find this an especially enjoyable conclusion to the surprisingly consequential series for Discovery's mirror characters.
The series is written by Kirsten Beyer and Mike Johnson, with art by Angel Hernandez, who also provides the A cover (coloured by Esther Sanz) for this issue, featuring many of the stories main players. The B cover is a photo of Lorca. There are also two retail incentive covers with Nick Roche and colourist Josh Burcham using the Discovery as a mirror to reflect mirror and prime versions of Burnham on one. The other is the latest in Declan Shalvey and colourist Jordie Bellaire's series of ship covers, this time featuring the USS Constellation.

New Star Trek novels finally announced!
Star Trek novels have been regularly released every month for years, but lately the line has ground to a halt due to issues with the license renewal. But finally there is news of new Star Trek books coming! Via a panel at this week Star Trek Las Vegas convention several new books have been announced for release in 2019:
January will relaunch the novels line with the fourth Discovery novel, The Way to the Stars, by Una McCormack, which will focus on Sylvia Tilly and explore her background. We also have a cover and blurb for this one, via StarTrek.com:
January will relaunch the novels line with the fourth Discovery novel, The Way to the Stars, by Una McCormack, which will focus on Sylvia Tilly and explore her background. We also have a cover and blurb for this one, via StarTrek.com:
Despite being an inexperienced Starfleet cadet, Sylvia Tilly became essential to the U.S.S. Discovery finding its way back home from the Mirror Universe. But how did she find that courage? From where did she get that steel? Who nurtured that spark of brilliance? The Way to the Stars recounts for fans everywhere the untold story of Tilly’s past.
It’s not easy being sixteen, especially when everyone expects great things from Tilly. It’s even harder when her mother and father are Federation luminaries, not to mention pressing her to attend one of the best schools that the Federation has to offer. Tilly wants to achieve great things — even though she hasn’t quite worked out how to do that or what it is she wants to do. But this year, everything will change for Tilly, as she about to embark upon the adventure of a lifetime — an adventure that will take her ever closer to the stars…
