Lots of creative new Klingon products announced today!

Today, the 1st of April, has seen quite the host of quirky new Star Trek product announcements, curiously all involving Klingons, which I'm sure will all be arriving on our shelves, and fridges, soon... Continue below to check out what's new.

Author Dayton Ward has announced the first new Star Trek novel in some time. Co-written with his regular writing partner Kevin Dilmore, we can look forward to a TOS adventure in, Mission to Gamma VI. Check out the cool cover art by Aaron Harvey:

Judging from the cover, the book takes unlikely inspiration (well maybe not that unlikely given the authors) from the old Mego playset, also called Mission to Gamma VI. Here's the blurb:

Stardate 5122.6: Surveying a newly charted world in unclaimed space near territory claimed by the Klingon Empire, Captain Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise find a primitive civilization centuries away from industrialization while living in untroubled paradise. This discovery is at odds with the powerful energy readings detected by long range sensors, suggesting a developed society and the presence of technology rivaling if not surpassing current Federation capabilities.

After inadvertently triggering a long-dormant security system, Kirk along with Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy find themselves trapped on the planet. Now it’s a race against time to prevent the last remnants of an oppressive regime from once more seizing control of this world and annihilating the innocent, naïve people who now call it home. ThinkGeek product announcements made on the 1st of April have a mixed history, with occasionally outlandish products not making it to market. But quite a few do turn up eventually (see USS Enterprise flying disc, or the USS Enterprise ambient noise feature in the new speaker-ship), and this one seems quite doable to me!
