Perth Mint reveal first Star Trek Discovery coins

Perth Mint have made a return to their two-coin character and ship format to add the first Star Trek: Discovery coins to their ongoing series of Star Trek releases. Available now are the USS Discovery, and Michael Burnham, both minted in one ounce of silver, with a face value of one Tuvalu dollar (and accordingly, Queen Elizabeth's head on the other side of each coin). Continue below for more details.

Like previous two-coin releases from Perth Mint, these come housed in a special transporter-chamber style case, with one coin on the top, and the over inside; revealed when the doors are slid open. Both coins are illuminated within this. This latest release recolours the previously white display case to a more Discovery-esque metallic silver and bronze.

Typically Perth Mint also release each two-coin set as individual coins, although there is no indication of that so far. However they suggest the two-coin set will be limited to 1500, while the coins themselves will be an edition of 5000, which would seem to suggest those individual releases will be coming too.

For a look back at all the previous Perth Mint Star Trek coins, see my Trek Collective List.
