CBS have announced five(ish) new additions to the Star Trek: Discovery cast, filling out the ranks of the USS Discovery crew, and the Klingon contingent in the show. Continue below for a look at all the new faces:
Rekha Sharma will be USS Discovery security officer Commander Landry. You might recognise her many past TV roles, including Battlestar Galactica, The 100, V, and Smallville. Unofficially she has also previously featured in Star Trek, guest starring in the latest episode of the fan film series Star Trek: Continues!
Shazad Latif, is not new to the cast! He was previously announced to play the Klingon Kol. This new wave of announcements however sees him recast, now playing Starfleet's Lieutenant Tyler. Latif has previously been seen in Spooks, Toast of London, and Penny Dreadful, among many other roles.
The new Kol, a Klingon commanding officer, is Kenneth Mitchell. You may know Mitchell from previous roles in Jericho, The Astronaut Wives Club, Frequency, and Odyssey 5.
Clare McConnell will be Dennas, "a leader in the Klingon Empire". McConnell’s credits a rather more limited, due to appear in Dim the Fluorescents, a movie due out this year.
Finally Damon Runyan is Ujilli, another "leader in the Klingon Empire". He has previously appeared in Gangland Undercover, and Supernatural.
Star Trek: Discovery is due to start some time this year, it will be distributed almost everywhere in the world on Netflix, except for the US where is will be available on CBS All Access, and Canada where it will be on Bell Media channels and services.
