Eaglemoss' Klingon transport, Enterprise-A, Baxial, and more

Eaglemoss have solicited the latest two issues in their Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection. Issues seventy-one and seventy-two, coming first to the UK in April and May, will be the unique Klingon transport from Enterprise's Bounty, and the USS Enterprise-A. Continue below to check out them, and other recent previews from the series.

Meanwhile over on Twitter, series manager Ben Robinson has posted a more advance preview of Neelix's ship, the Baxial, surrounded by some friends from the Doctor Who universe. That ship will be issue seventy-six, due in July.

There are also a few previews of recently released issues. The collection's Facebook page and Eaglemoss's online shop posted these images of the USS Raven, issue sixty-six, which just arrived in the UK:

While Ben posted these couple of views of the Voth research vessel, which was issue sixty-two:

Ben also shared these renderings of the Antares, and the Xindi Aquatic ship (issues sixty-three and sixty-five):

  1. Those seams on the back of the A look super ugly. The TOS-Enterprise model from Eaglemoss didn't have them, so why here?

  2. What seams are you talking about?

Anyway, the TOS model is a different model, based on a different design, so... of course it's different. If you're referring to the seam where the nacelle pylons attach to the secondary hull... the TOS model has the same seams, just in a different spot.

  3. It's basically the same shape. The seam on the TOS model isn't nearly as prominent.

  4. I'm still not 100% sure which seam you're talking about.

If it's the pylon seam: both models split the secondary hull into two pieces. On the refit-1701, the second piece is very small and just surrounds the two pylons, making most of the secondary hull one piece; on the TOS-1701, the second piece is much larger, moving the seam between the two down to the bottom of the hull where it's much less visible.

I think the reason why the refit-1701 has the smaller piece is because the nacelle pylons are much more delicate, so it's designed to be easy to come apart w/out breaking the model. IE if you drop the refit, the pylon piece will come off without much damage, whereas if it were larger the thin pylons would probably snap in half.

  5. I think he might mean the panel separation lines on the primary hull, which I agree are more prominent than necessary. Looks like a nice new paint job though.

  6. Boo. :)

The primary hull grid pattern is too defined. I wish they learned their mistakes from the original refit issue. It still looks more like a Hot Wheels version as it is. If they couldn't define that pattern more delicately, then a smooth cast with just a pronounced aztec applique would have been better.

  7. Doesn't look like it's worth picking up the Enterprise this time around, the paint job doesn't look better imo, the registry on the top of the saucer section seems in the wrong place and the model doesn't seem to have any improvements from the refit. Hope the final version looks better.

  8. The A's registry is one grid set too low.
