Cast and crew talk Star Trek Beyond, on set

The Star Trek Beyond creative team on set
Access Hollywood have released a new behind the scenes report, filmed on the set of Star Trek Beyond. If you can endure the presentation style, you'll find interviews with Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban. There are no huge revelations, but they do reinforce some of the ideas in the film we've already had hinted: That by this point the crew are well into their mission, and Kirk trying to figure out what comes next for them, that during the course of the film our main characters end up separated, and that Spock and McCoy spend much of the film together:

Karl Urban describing the Spock/McCoy relationship
Simon Pegg had the most exciting words for me, hinting at the Spock/McCoy moments we have to look forward too:
There's a moment in the script where they separate, and we felt like the Kirk/Spock dynamic had been explored quite a lot in the first two movies, and myself and Doug Jung, my co-writer, always loved the dynamic between Bones and Spock, because they are opposites, they're like the devil and the angel on Kirk's shoulder - To put them together, in perilous situations, felt like a gift to do.
While Chris Pine describing what Kirk has in store probably sets up some of the themes of the film a bit:
There's just a lot of big questions for Kirk; especially as he's not a young man, at least as defined by the first films. He's not dealing ith as many rage issues or having to prove himself. He's been there, he's done that, he is the captain, and he's looking around and thinking, "What next? What now?".
