This Month: September 2015 Star Trek Releases

September passed with another hoard of Star Trek stuff to keep us entertained, and it was an especially big month for our bookshelves, with lots of prose, comics, and non-fiction books ready to fill them! Plus there's the usual assortment of model ships, as well as toys, homewares and more. Continue below for a look at everything Star Trek that arrived in September.

Prose

For the third month in a row we got two new prose adventures. The September novel was Kirsten Beyer's Atonement, the latest book in the Voyager relaunch, and the final part of a trilogy of stories, following Protectors and Acts of Contrition. Have no fear though, the Full Circle fleet's mission will continue next year with A Pocket Full of Lies. Until then, here's the blurb for Atonement:

Perth Mint's Voyager coins

Perth Mint have released the latest pair of coins in their Star Trek captain and ship series, this forth set features Captain Janeway and the USS Voyager. Like all the other Perth Mint Star Trek coins, these have a face value of one Tuvalu dollar, with both designs featuring the head of Queen Elizabeth II on the reverse. They are however only available struck in silver, so will cost you a little more than a dollar if you desire them. IDW's December Star Trek comics

IDW have released their December solicitations, which include three new Star Trek comics, plus an omnibus book. Those include the start of the new Starfleet Academy series, and the final issues in the Green Lantern crossover, and mirror universe arc in the ongoing series! This is the first of what will be a five-part series, although Mike Johnson has suggested there is the potential for it to continue if it goes well. There will be three covers, the main one by Derek Charm, a subscription variant by Jen Bartel, and further variant by Elsa Charretier. The first two of those have been released so far (and a tease of the third was shared recently). Note the A cover has been substantially reworked from the previously released artwork.

Deity, Part 2 preview

The latest issue in IDW's nuTrek ongoing comic series, is Deity, Part 2, the final half of the two-part story, and issue forty-nine in the series. Tony Shasteen continues to deliver some spectacular artwork, which you can see below in a five page preview from the issue:

Star Trek non-fiction and novelty books aplenty in 2016

Time to buy some new bookshelves, with the fiftieth anniversary on the horizon, 2016 looks set to be a bumper year of Star Trek non-fiction books! The Survival Equation preview

The crew of the USS Enterprise in both realities got new comic releases this week, and the prime-timeline tale came as the eighth issue in John Byrne's New Visions photo-comics, The Survival Equation. As you might have guessed from the rather fantastic cover, this issue is a sequel to the episode What Are Little Girls Made Of?, and also follows up on a thread from an earlier issue in the New Visions series. The Spectrum War #3 preview, and other nuTrek comics updates

Out this week is issue three in the nuTrek/Green Lantern crossover comic series, The Spectrum War, which approaching the middle of the six-part story is starting to pull in more characters from the DC side of the inter-reality event.

Written by nuTrek regular Mike Johnson, with art by Angel Hernandez, this issue has three different covers: The A cover by Tony Shasteen, B cover by Rachael Stott, with colours by Davide Mastrolonardo, and the subscription cover by Garry Brown, coloured by Doug Garbark. Starships Collection updates: Mirror universe, multi-packs, and the First Contact fleet

A few updates from Eaglemoss' Star Trek: The Official Starships Collection. First up: Posting on Twitter, the collection's manager, Ben Robinson, shared the cover for the forthcoming ISS Enterprise, the mirror universe counterpart of the original Enterprise, which is set to be released as the first extra variant issue in the series (separate from the main run). Ben also revealed that they are now also planning to do a mirror universe NX-01 extra issue too.

Meanwhile, the Eaglemoss online shop is now listing a new multi-pack of three Enterprise models, the C, D, and E. They come packaged together, along with a single perfect-bond magazine, featuring the content from the original separate issues. Obviously these aren't aimed at people already subscribed to the series, but if you're picking and choosing it's a neat way to pick up some of the Enterprises.
