Latest Starships Collection news

A few bits of news from The Official Starships Collection. Starting with a new image and first look at the cover of issue twelve, the Akira class USS Thunderchild, which was posted on The Collection's website.

There are also higher quality versions of previously released images of the Ferengi Marauder (issue sixteen) and "USS Dauntless" (issue seventeen). These were posted by StarTrek.com and Forbidden Planet:

UPDATE: The Collection's Facebook page also posted the cover of issue thirteen, the Jem'Hadar Battlecruiser:

Finally I've got some exciting news for Canadian readers, care of my regular reader and informant on model ships, Darth Duranium, who has been in contact with Eaglemoss, and was informed The Collection will be launching in Canada in February. There's been no public announcement of this yet, but one would think it must be imminent if they want to get subscribers signed-up in time for the launch.

PS. For a listing of all the ships in the Starships Collection, including links to all my previous previews and reviews, see my index page.

They should finally bring it to continental Europe as well! I have to order them via my comic book store from the states until now ;)

The Dauntless looks like it was molded from clay.

I'm beginning to think all they had to base the VOY ships off were ultra low-resolution CGI models, as they're far worse than they have any right to be. Being smaller ships, they should have better details than big stuff like the Ent-D, or Marauder. Very disappointing.

And have we seen any good forward or ventral shots of the Akira? I'd like to see what the deflector looks like. It's easily my no.1 most anticipated Eaglemoss issue.

I can't wait for the Akira! I was excited for the Dauntless however, if that's the final color of the model then it may be disappointing.
