Latest Trek T-shirts

I think there are a sufficiently wide range of Star Trek T-shirts available, that if you were so inclined, you could probably wear a different design every day of the year. With so many about I don't even try to catalogue them all (especially as most of them are pretty unoriginal), but do like to pick out the best now and then, so here are my latest favourites:

Trevco have addressed something that often bothers me about T-shirts; they're basically plain aside from a rectangle of design on the front, essentially turning the shirt into a frame. Not so with these cool new full-bleed designs. All based on TOS, they take inspiration from multiple sources, including the ever popular retro look from Gold Key Comics, the latest use of the Haynes Manual Enterprise cross-section, and an effortless way to give yourself Khan's chest:

Continue after the jump for a few more recent highlights from the world of Trek-T's:

Here's another Gold Key inspired design, featuring an aliens group shot (not sure who made this one):

In the UK, Plastic Head have added this USS Enterprise, made from lots of other starships, design, to their Star Trek range:

And finally, from We Love Fine, a couple of really weird variants of Khaaaaan-screaming Kirk:

When I follow your “full-bleed designs” link to Amazon.com, I see a whole lotta shirts. Once I figure out that some are front-print and others are front-and-back-print, I'm still seeing two sets of prices for what looks like the same front-and-back-printed items. The ones that Amazon says are “offered by S.A.B.” cost quite a bit more than the ones that Amazon says are “offered by Coast City Styles,” but they look pretty much the same to me. Is there a qualitative difference between them, something other than just who's selling them to me?

Hmmmm... My guess, would be that it is indeed purely down to who is selling them. A lot of companies sell through Amazon, so it's no uncommon to see the same products offered by different companies at all sorts of price points. I get the impression there are two versions of each shirt on offer, the front-only print, or the front and back, and any other listings are just duplicates of those two options. Probably...

I notice they're different in at least one way: the less expensive ones are 50/50 cotton/polyester and the more expensive ones are “100% polyester sports fabric” – not that I have any idea whether that's necessarily better, or enough better to be worth the extra money … but at least I've convinced myself that they're not identical, anyhow.

Well spotted! Who'd have thought you could make so many variations of something so simple as a T-shirt!

A friend of mine who knows her fabrics promises me that “sports poly wont shrink or fade and the colors are truer. It takes a different printing process and the designs don't crack.” Based on that, I'm splurging. Shirts should arrive in the next few days. Thank you for letting us know about them!

haha, glad you've got friends in the know! And glad to be of service :) Which one(s) have you gone for? :)

Of the first set of eight, I picked the front-and-back prints of the top left and bottom left — the Enterprise among planets and the Enterprise with captain and officers. Came close to getting more, but my budget won't let me buy more than two — otherwise I might have ordered the top right (cutaway Enterprise). I also love the idea of the Khan shirt but I don't have a body that can pull that off. It looked great on Montalban; on me, it would be all too obvious that he was in much better shape than I am. :)

I hate to sound like a salesman, but honestly, it is no exaggeration to say that I cannot go out in public wearing one of these shirts without getting a constant stream of admiring comments from people. I don't ever get this much attention, normally, but that all changes when people see me wearing one of these shirts. People I don't know come up to me just to say how cool the shirts are and to ask me where I got them. They make quite an impression. And that's a fact.
