Into Darkness round-up: music, new clip, and (huge) posters

More Star Trek Into Darkness news, and plenty of it! The most exciting bit as far as I'm concerned is the first chance to hear one of the new themes from the soundtrack. At the recent music to projection shows of the first nuTrek movie in Switzerland, Michael Giacchino's new theme for John Harrison was performed in the encore. It's brooding and mysterious and makes me all the more curious about the character. Have a listen, it's the first clip on the playlist below, the rest that follow are other recordings from the performances of music from the first movie, which will make you wish you lived in Switzerland!:

Video via the Schulerst and TrekMovie youtube channels. TrekMovie also posted some comments from the Q and A's Giacchino did after the performance, including some interesting incites into Into Darkness' music:
It is a much darker film. I think [Star Trek 2009] has more of a sense of adventure going on, whereas [Into Darkness] is more of a sort of psychological danger that is happening behind the scenes. So the music is quite different. It is quite darker. It is more internal. It is not as celebratory as [Star Trek 2009] is in many moments. And the film itself speaks to themes of the world today–sort of the geopolitical situation in the world. And it also kind of leans heavily on what is happening in the world today to tell the story.
It was really interesting to get inside the head of the new characters. Benedict Cumberbatch is in the film and he is amazing…In watching the film I was able to get so much out of his performance. The first piece of music I wrote for was his theme–the villain’s theme. And I’m not going to tell you who the villain is–because I’m not allowed…But watching his performance gave me an idea and I couldn’t wait to sit down and write his music for the movie.
At the MTV Movie Awards, in addition to the new trailer I posted previously, they apparently also showed this new clip, showing more of the Enterprise and mystery Starfleet ship crashes (still trying to convince us they are the same ship with tricksy editing it seems):

Clip via TrekMovie. Here are a couple of screencaps of the new footage, note the differently spaced nacelles (and the bloody great hole in the Enterprise's saucer!):

Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana also made an appearance at the MTV Movie Awards, coming on stage through a life size recreation of the first Into Darkness poster! Check that out after the jump, along with all the latest Into Darkness posters (they just keep coming!):

Above image via TrekMovie. This poster isn't content to stay at that mieger scale though, the German Star Trek Facebook page posted this image of a multi-story version on the side of a cinema in Berlin:

Apple have released the US version of the Harrison character poster. Just Kirk to go now (although you can already see the Spanish and banner versions of all four in my previous report):

Collider and Shockya also came across two different banner versions of the domestic poster at CinemaCon (I've straightened up both photos):
