Amazing concept art for a new Star Trek animated series

Talented artist Peter Markowski spends his time working for Warner Brothers, working on concept art for animations such as Green Lantern. When he's not busy with that he also does other art, including the following awesome concepts for a could-be nuTrek animated series. Wouldn't it be amazing if this became reality?:

It's not just awesome space stuff, he keeps landing parties busy too. The first one here is a reimagined Horta:

I've put a few more of my favourites after the jump, as well as links to all Markowski Star Trek concepts so far, check them out! And if you're listening CBS, please make this a a reality soon!

  2. I would definitely support a "nuTrek" animated series. Especially if they could get all the actors to voice their characters for it, and then get Hasbro to do a proper line of toys. I find their lack of a proper Star Trek Into Darkness line...disturbing (did I just reference Star Wars while talking about Star Trek?...lol)

  3. Well, speaking of Star Wars, I think the voice actors in the Clone Wars do a great job sounding like the characters from the films without being the same people. So while it would be nice to get the current cast involved in a new animated series, it wouldn't be too awful if they weren't.

The oddest thing about the toys I think, is that what toys there are seem to be aimed at a younger market, while the film itself seems rather more grown up.

  4. Good point. There are bound to be VA's out there that could do great jobs as the voices, but if they could get at least some of the movie cast to voice their animated counterparts, that would be a great bonus. Though this is all assuming that the show gets greenlit. Which I REALLY hope it does. I'm starting to introduce my nephew to Star Trek, and a new animated series would be perfect for that. That and I would immensely enjoy it myself.

This concept art looks really great, so hopefully it'll actually get made. Though I'm wondering...what station would air it? I would hope CBS, but since WB is involved, I'm worried it would be aired on Cartoon Network...and get canned after just on season...

  8. Not sure why Peter deleted his comments... but thank you sir for creating this wonderful artwork, I hope it sews the seed of a new TAS as you desire :)

Dayton/Jim: Hard to pick favourites hmm? It all looks so wonderful. I'm starting to think I might actually prefer a new animated series to a live action one; it would give the makers so much more scope for impressive and creative visuals.

  9. Yes, thank you Peter. Even if this comes to nothing, it's still great to see someone's vision for what could be.

While I would ultimately prefer a new live-action series, I would still very much support a new animated series. Especially one that looked like this. There is a lot of good design work here.

If I absolutely had to say which piece was my favorite, it would be the horta. Devil in the Dark is one of my favorite episodes too, and while it's certainly larger than I would have made it, the cancer-cell like design really works for it.

  10. Amazing? Well... actually not even hard to do, once you have a proper mesh.

Nice idea, though. But most screenshots from bcfiles.com look far better.

  13. I have to admit, while I absolutely love the other artwork you've created, I'm...not at all a fan of the character designs you've come up with. There's a Kirk head sketch that's not too bad, and the one's of Uhura aren't bad either, but for the most part I find them...unappealing.

  20. If Star Trek does an animated project I would love to see it get the full blown Pixar CG style treatment.Imagine Shatner,Nimoy,Nichelle,Koeing and Takei..Oh My!!voicing the thing.I have wanted to see CG animation evolve past the "Kiddie movie" style Characters its been mainly used for and allow it to produce more realistic characters and I think A Star Trek feature could be the project to do that
