First look at Revell's new USS Enterprise model kit.

Revell have been showing off their latest Star Trek model kit, the new timeline USS Enterprise, at the recent Nuremberg Toy Fair:

As you can see, the previously released CGI rendering has formed the basis of their box art, which also reveals the size of their model; 588mm long - At their claimed scale of 1:500 that makes their Enterprise the equivalent of a little under 300m long, about the same size as the original Enterprise, rather than the gigantic size that details such as the shuttle bay actually make the new version of the ship. Here's how one of the bluray extra features compares the two designs:

Revell's new USS Enterprise is due out in Germany in May, to coincide with the release of Star Trek Into Darkness.

Will it be released here in North America?

Nothing has been announced so far. I wouldn't be surprised if someone imported some, it's obviously going to be in demand. As for official North American distribution, time will tell; it was several months before Star Trek Catan found it's way from Germany to the US.

i have just bought and received two REVELL Star Trek into darkness Enterprise model kits 04882, after waiting a very long time to get my hands on a kit like this they are nicely made but there is a major problem with two of the parts not been made in clear plastic! These are the IMPULSE engine grills very disappointed :( "Spock would not understand the logic in this" the other is the forward facing torpedo launcher which could of also have been made as a separate clear part.
I like many other modellers are/will be disappointed with the IMPULSE engine grills not being made in clear plastic as these should give the modeller the chance to light it, surely it is not because of keeping costs down, apart from this the kit is great and worth buying.

I also bought two but I have not recieved them yet.About some parts not being clear,I'm sure someone out there will make replacement parts for it.I also did some calculation's and I beleve the kit is the wrong scale,it's more in the 1/1000 range.

How about the deflector? I'd have thought that would be an interesting, if tricky, thing to light?
