First look at 2014 calendars

Had enough of 2013? Fear not, Universe Publishing are set up for 2014 already! Here's a first look at their range of Star Trek calendars for next year, listings for which have just appeared on Amazon. Continuing from this year are the TOS calendar, daily calendar, and engagements calendar. With them is a new Star Trek Into Darkness calendar. There isn't currently a listing for Ships of the Line 2014, but perhaps the recent turnaround on the cancellation of that series means its a late addition, and will pop up later. When Ships of the Line does appear that will be five calendars from Universe alone. Plus Panini in Germany are also returning with another Star Trek Wandkalender - Well on the way to equalling the total of eight 2013 Star Trek calendars released by various publishers.

Here are covers, sample pages, and blurbs, that have so far been posted. Bare in mind these are very early solicitations; all the Universe ones are due for publication in August, and I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of these changed before then:

First up the new Star Trek Into Darkness calendar. At the moment the covers are basically an advert for the film's release in May, which by the time this is published will already of happened, so I expect that will change. The images currently sampled are all from the first Star Trek film too, so presumably that will change once more publicity photos are in circulation and they can actually make something that reflects Star Trek Into Darkness.

Summer 2013 will be all about Star Trek Into Darkness. The long-awaited sequel returns boldly where fans have gone for more than 40 years, aboard the starship Enterprise.

The Star Trek Into Darkness 2014 Wall Calendar features all new images of Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as McCoy, and Zoe Saldana as Uhura.

Then there's the engagement calendar. This year's was the "Captain's Log" calendar, focusing on the Star Trek capatains. Next year they've gone much cooler and have found a new and very effective use for Juan Ortiz's retro Star Trek prints:

Inspired by the iconic sci-fi franchise’s own unique spirit, these 36 images featured in the Star Trek 2014 16-Month Engagment Calendar are an all-new way to look at Star Trek. Artist and illustrator Juan Ortiz drew on thetraditions of B-movie posters, Broadway playbills, and 1960s concert posters to create these fabulous retro-futuristic posters for episodes from the original Star Trek series, including fan favorites “The City on the Edge of Forever,” “Dagger of the Mind,” and “Balance of Terror.”

There's also the daily calendar, which made a return this year, after a few years absence:

The Star Trek 2014 Day-to-Day Calendar features quotations from each of the franchise’s television series and films, lore from the Star Trek universe, and trivia from more than four decades of Trekker history.

Covering all things Star Trek, including dialogue, character biographies, and Klingon words and phrases, this calendar offers a daily glimpse of an exciting, ever-expanding futuristic universe—sure to enliven any cubicle, desk, or work space.

The long running TOS calendar. There's just a blurb for this one so far:
Led by Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), first officer Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy), and chief medical officer Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley), the original adventures of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise ™ have inspired an entire universe of television series and blockbuster films. The Star Trek 2014 Wall Calendar: The Original Series features full-color photos of the entire original cast, including Lieutenant Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), Lieutenant Sulu (George Takei), Ensign Chekov (Walter Koenig), and Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott (James Doohan).

Finally Panini's 2014 Wandkalender so far there is just a detailless listing for this. The 2013 edition used all the Star Trek movie poster art, so hopefully next year's version will be equally as nice.
