8of5 is off to assimilate Kenya for a couple of weeks, so no updates until I return I'm afraid. See you then...
UPDATE: Aaaaand I'm back, I watched the new Star Trek film no less than three times on the flights there and back. You'd think I was a trekkie or something...
Updates for the past couple of weeks on the way. Looks like the biggest news is Pocket Books have lost a few more marbles and got rid of another Trek editor!

Spock: Reflections #2 preview + Countdown hardcover
TrekMovie have released a five-page preview of next week's second issue of the Spock: Reflections series. This issue is advertised for the Pike-era flashback, but it looks like we get a The Motion Picture-era one too! You can see the preview, here, as well as this awesome new (and annoyingly retail incentive) Pike-era cover:
TrekMovie have also reported some new details on the Countdown hardcover omnibus, with the latest iteration of the cover design. Apparently the back cover features a UV effect so when it is tilted Nero's tattoo appears...

Star Trek Online: 2391
The Star Trek Online website has been updated with its latest Path to 2409 entry. 2391 sees lots of angry people it seems: Nausican pirates provoking the Federation Transport Union to demand Starfleet protection; the subsequent Starfleet withdrawal from the Romulan-Klingon boarder gives an opening for a Klingon attack, which is fought off by advanced Romulan ships. Admiral Taris subsequently falls into a favourable position with her people and ascends to be their new leader.
Elsewhere, Sela's band of Romulans start a colony and make some slaves. The Ferengi do some good business with the Cardassians. The artificial intelligence sentience debates continues. More aliens are encouraged into Starfleet. And Starfleet sets up a task force to investigate Species 8472 incursions.

Star Trek: Art of the Film
*dances with glee* Amazon have let slip another new Star Trek product, this time an art book for the new film, which will certainly be prettiful, and give us all sort of insights into the new designs and details we wont have been able to see properly. Exciting!
It's to be published by Titan Books and out in November, and is a hardback too! (Discovered by DarkHorizon on the TrekBBS)

Cardassians in the Spotlight
As pointed out by TrekMovie, Amazon.com have a listing up for the omnibus book of Alien Spotlight II, and a blurb which identifies the fifth (and final) race (and no it's not Humans): Cardassians, by Andy Schmidt. Amazon has a release date of March, which if IDW is following usual practice will have this Cardassian issue out in December.
Now I wonder, TNG Cardassians, TOS Cardassians?! or the start of IDW's take on DS9?
